The Vineyards

Our vineyards are located in Chile's main wine-growing regions. Our premium reds are produced in the prestigious Maipo Valley. The vineyard is located on a high, alluvial terrace overlooking the Maipo river. The first vines were planted in 1990 by our head winemaker Miguel Besoain.

The dry terrain favours the Cabernet Sauvignon variety, producing small berries with higher concentrations of sugar and acid. The soil is similar to the banks of the Medoc, which is why the region is known as the Bordeaux of Latin America.

The vines are nurtured with melt water from the Andes Mountains using drip irrigation techniques. This ensures the vines receive the right amount of water and we only use what we need.

Our premium white wines come from the Casablanca Valley. It is situated near the Pacific Ocean where the vines are cooled by the fresh sea breezes. The chalk in the soil adds a mineral edge to the finished taste, which is crisp and clean.

Further south is Chile's largest wine-growing region and also its oldest. The Maule Valley was one of the first areas to be used for wine by Spanish colonists and today there are some vines still growing that were planted 150 years ago. This is where the wines in our Rose and Estate Collections are made.

The climate in the valley is cooler and wetter than in the more northern vineyards and the soil is diverse, including red clay, loam and gravel. This allows a number of different grape varieties to thrive.
